The next time you go grocery shopping at Vons be sure to smile and thank the employees. Students in the San Gabriel Valley are certainly all smiles because of them.
The generosity of the Vons Foundation has allowed a dental clinic for families without insurance to stay open this summer. Without the $10,000 grant from the foundation, the clinic would have closed.
It is operated by the San Gabriel Valley Foundation for Dental Health. The nonprofit group staffs the clinic with volunteer dentists and dental hygienists.
As early as March, the two founding dentists had warned that thousands of children would suffer if the clinic closed.
